Cheapest UK Airfields for Avgas — September 2026 Update

The 23 UK airfields with a verified 100LL price this month, ranked cheapest to priciest, VAT-adjusted to what you'd actually pay at the pumps.

For private pilots scouring the web for the cheapest avgas in the UK or the cheapest airfield for fuel near them, keeping track of current 100LL prices is a core part of flight planning. As summer flying gives way to autumn, we've pulled together the latest verified data from the Airfield Atlas directory for a clear, actionable snapshot of what you can expect to pay at the pumps this month.

Context and sample size

Airfield Atlas tracks 1,222 airfields across the UK. For this September update, we have a verified, current 100LL avgas price for 23 of them.

That's not a comprehensive national picture yet — it's a starting point, and it grows every week as more listings get checked and verified. Because the sample is still small, we're not drawing conclusions about regional trends, and we're not attempting to explain why prices might be lower or higher than last quarter — we don't have enough month-over-month data across enough airfields to support a causal claim like that. What this list is genuinely useful for is exactly what it looks like: an accurate lookup table for these 23 fields, not a market report.

The VAT factor

Airfields publish prices two different ways: some quote the flat rate you'll actually pay at the till (inclusive of 20% VAT), others quote the pre-VAT wholesale figure. Every number in the ranking below is the gross, VAT-inclusive price — where an airfield publishes ex-VAT, we've grossed it up so the leaderboard reflects what you'd actually be charged.

The cheapest spots and the top end

Across the 23 verified airfields, the median gross price is £2.25 per litre. The spread from cheapest to priciest is substantial: from a low of £1.66/L at Bagby Thirsk Airfield (EGNG) in North Yorkshire, up to £2.58/L at London Oxford Airport (EGTK). Bagby Thirsk and Old Sarum Airfield (EGLS) are the only two fields in the sample below £1.80/L, joined in the sub-£2.00 bracket by Perth/Scone (EGPT) and Netherthorpe (EGNF).

Uplifting 100 litres of 100LL at the most expensive airfield on this list costs £92.00 more than at the cheapest — easily enough to cover a landing fee and a decent slice of cake at the airfield café.

Methodology

Every price above comes from each airfield's own published fuel or charges page, checked between 30 August and 6 September 2026 — see the source link on each airfield's listing in the directory. Where an airfield publishes an ex-VAT figure, we've grossed it up to the VAT-inclusive price for comparison; that adjustment is ours, not the airfield's, so always confirm the actual till price before you fly. Coverage grows every week — if you operate or manage one of the 1,199 fields we don't yet have a price for, you can submit one through its directory listing.
